A customer favorite! Hand-picked on small lot farms of 1-2 hectares, this fully washed exotic coffee comes to us from northern Tanzania. Coffee cherries are typically harvested and pulped the same day, then fermented for 24-72 hours in cement tanks. The coffee is then washed clean of mucilage and sorted through water channels before heading to dry on raised beds or mechanical driers.

What is peaberry coffee you ask? Peaberry coffee is a natural mutation of the coffee cherry (the fruit of a coffee plant) that produces one smaller, more round seed (widely referred to as beans) instead of two traditional seeds with one flat side. Peaberry coffee occurs in roughly 5-10% of the world's coffee supply. Peaberry coffee is sorted from traditional coffee using mesh screens. In Tanzania, the bulk of the traditional coffee is purchased by Japanese coffee markets, and the peaberry coffee is exported to other markets. It is believed that because only one seed grows inside the coffee cherry, it has a more intense flavor!
