One Scoop or Two? Always two! We are not the dairy state (although we're only a mile away!)… but we do love ice cream!
Welcome to the North & Shore ice cream road trip blog. Here's a few of our top stops for North Shore scoops:
BRIDGEMAN’S
Bridgman's- Restaurant + Ice Cream Shop

The home of Duluth’s favorite MEGA Malts!
Bridgman’s has been a part of Duluth’s story since 1936!
Today their ice cream is served at many shops, cafes and grocery stores around the Midwest. But this restaurant is the one and only Bridgeman’s and is home to my all-time favorite ice cream, Black Licorice!! ( Shhh, It is delicious!)
They also serve locally sourced breakfast, lunch and dinner! If you are a fan of delicious burgers and fries, with an iconic mega malt as dessert, this is worth just a short drive up the hill.

Princess Unicorn:

A Cotton Candy melt, topped with whipped cream, cotton candy, a plush unicorn, and rainbow candy marshmallows.
Diggin in The Dirt:
Chocolate Oreo malt, topped with whipped cream, a chocolate wafer cookie, crushed Oreos, gummy worms, and a souvenir toy truck.
Let’s Celebrate:
Birthday Cake melt, topped with whipped cream, and an oversized lollipop and a cupcake on top.
Crank + Dasher
Location: In Fitger’s Courtyard
600 E. Superior St. Duluth, MN
A local and women owned business making small batch, handcrafted ice cream with the best quality ingredients possible. Find their little shop located in the Fitger’s courtyard in Duluth, on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior. They said it, and they deliver- the best quality, dairy from Autumnwood Farm in Forest Lake, hand-picking berries at local berry farms, and making their mix-ins from scratch. Using no artificial coloring, which means one of my all-time favorite flavors, Mint Chip, is not green, and Local Summer Strawberry and other berry flavors are colored by the fruit itself! Duluthians rave about the Salted Peanut Butter Brownie, which includes their homemade brownies.

Superior Creamery
Location: 7 Broadway Ave Grand Marais, MN
110 Miles from Duluth.
This new little shop "by the saltless sea" as their slogan says, truly makes an ice cream stop, an experience. Their ice cream is made using the finest Minnesota dairy and premium ingredients. They also offer a food menu that is simple, delicious and homemade. Opening their doors just last year in 2022- they are anticipating the summer ahead.
Summer Hours: 11 am - 8 pm Daily, Kitchen Closes @ 4pm
